The shims need to be used to raise the comb in relation to the barrel. A quick method to check the correct stock cast and height is to mount the gun with your eyes closed, have a friend place a 50 cent piece on the rear of the rib then open your eyes. The correct sight picture should be nicely centered with the front bead fully visible above the coin. If not correct then make the adjustments required.
