Am looking to buy a cheap double barrel to shoot my yearly 10 birds. So just checking what's the availability when it comes to steel shot. In 12 and 20g. #3 #4?
Was looking around online and couldn't find much in stock .

Nothing is tough about having a 70 lb bow and looking like an uncoordinated praying mantis while trying to draw it back.
Ammo generally does not arrive in store until month before season starts.
Buy a 12g unless you have a particular reason for buying a 20ga. There will always be more choice in ammo for 12ga (i use a 20ga and finding non toxic ammo is almost like looking for AR2225 or RE26 powder
Have been using Falcon Steel #4's in 12g for a few years now and can echo what has been said above it usually arrives in store about a month before opening weekend

Probably best to avoid Winchester. The gun club was contacting there supplier as a few shooters were complaining about miss fires with one junior shooter loosing a competition last weekend because of it. Around one box out of a slab miss firing. Yes lead loads but I guess its the same components and process to make the cartridge just the shot difference maybe.
Most good gun shops have a small choice of shells available, but as others have said come April brings a better choice.
