Thread: steel shot

I am giving my grandson an old gun of mine that I am not using anymore and I think it will be okay for steel shot but thought I would ask here, the gun is a early 70s miroku under and over with 26 inch barrels and fixed chokes of improved cylinder and modified and used by me as a quail and pheasent gun when I lived in taupo.
the action is as tight as the day it was made.

No shot bigger than #3 and keep payloads to the under 34grm jobbies and you should be fine. The 30-32grm loads kill ducks just fine.

I have a similar gun for my daughter
We use steel trap 1 oz number 7s. Enough pellets. Light on recoil and the ammo is suited for mostly any gun.

excellent option for lassiers or those just starting out .when i started my duckshhoting used to use the 1oz clay bird no7 shot -suprising how many ducks fell for it (excuse the pun),the first ever being a randy bloody mallard drake nearly chocka up a screaming parrie hen in mid flight . his landing in the paddock was like a mini earthquake !
