Versamax Transformation from Tactical to Tacticool.

...It started out going from soon to be "illegal" to "legal", but then grew from that to "tacticool"!

Shotgun started as standard Remington Versamax Tactical, 22" 12g.
It was going to get put down by the government, then i decided to save it.

Magazine got shortened to new legal capacity & barrel lost a little over 5".
A new Mesa Tactical Urbino stock with pistol grip, adjustable cheek piece, and limbsaver replaced the orginal one. And a Mesa Tactical foregrip was also fitted, both made for the versamax.
Another change was a Vang-Comp front sight post was fitted, as well as a modified Vang-Comp rear Ghost Ring sight & rail.

At some point i will get it Cerekoted, but absoluted over the moon in how it came out.

Yeh, the MESA Tactical stuff is only US$100 for the stock (limbsaver & cheek riser) & US40 for the forend.
Though shipping from them was high at US$65... from memory.

    That is really nice.
Do these have screw in chokes normally, does the shortened version still have a choke?

Looking for a replacement shotgun but not much around that tickles my fancy. What you have done is an interesting solution.
    Thanks for sharing.

Hi Simon, yes they normally have screw in chokes.
The Versamax comes with the breaching one as in the first picture and an improved cylinder choke.
In this case for what i use if for i did not bother getting the barrel re-threaded for a choke.

Do you want the extension tube? I have one sitting in a box.... I managed to convert my versa max to legal, due to another forum member giving a end cap and spring.
The tubes yours, just give a address to send it to....
Please excuse spelling, as finger speed is sometimes behind brain spped........ Or maybe the other wayy.....

Sold mine back to the staatspolizei as 3gun/multi-gun was essentially kaput after the changes. But when it was in my possession, I changed out the factory lifter to not cut my thumb and installed an enlarged charging handle knob and cut the magazine-spring by 2 coils to aid in easier loading.

Yes the lifter has drawn blood a few times...
The spring has not yet been shortened. I tested it yesterday and it would be a bit nicer with a little less tension... so will chop a bit off to lighten loading without risking changing magazine capacity.
Will give the front sight post a squirt of matt black today just to remove the bling.
