If you needed something bolted together why would you get a rabbit to do it?
Oh Rushy, bolting as in galloping!!! :D
What do you mean?
She means that the rabbit is now running away flat knacker Pointer
I've seen more dog's put off by them and spooked by the twang of the bungy, than actually benefit from using them.
There are better ways of teaching steadiness to flush.
I have seen fotos of them and wondered about them...?!! A dog trainer in the UK said that in his opinion a few bobwhites are the best to teach a puppy steadiness. And a good thing about them is that they do not fly far and will return to their pen.

We have a BoltAttachment 27223ing rabbitsAttachment 27224:D:thumbsup:
With a pigeon launcher, the proximity is much different. The launcher is used 5-10m plus from the dog, so there should be little influence on the dog (if not, then it isn't being used correctly). However, the bolting rabbit it used right under the dog's nose and can often have negative association for the dog.
Personally, I'd teach the stop on the whistle, transfer that to stop on the thrown dummy, then transfer to stop on hand-thrown pigeons before repeating the process with a rolling ball and then a wing-clipped pigeon (flies low to the ground....not a bolting rabbit, but as close to replicating it, within reason, as possible).
I'm still in the dark, whats a bolting rabbit?
ecollar for everything , it worked for me so must be right --everyone else is wrong
I see where the confussion arises... once I saw dundees link...
Tori my thoughts - personally I wouldnt play with it... there are other proven methods that work... and the gadges to me are just like an e collar. If I dont know how to do it, I wont play arouns with it.
Might do more damage than good...
ive seen petros dog on point when a rabbit broke, we couldn't find petros for half an hour he had run so fast chasing that fur as his dog just sat and watched
I havent seen my own dog ever point a rabbit in his whole existance...so that would be news to me....
bwhaaaaaaaaa :P
I can understand why people use pigeons to train for birds due to availability and repeatability, but I can't understand why someone would want to simulate a running rabbit when New Zealand is lousy with the buggers?
@Dundee I am sure there is a law against getting Bolt to impregnate those rabits !
And if there isnt one, there should be :D
@el borracho, went out shooting yesterday and after all the effort to find a rooster or some quail Aki slams on a point about an hour in the hunt.... He stood on a fallen tree with his nose pointing between his feet, Got myself all wound up and excited thinking brownies would burst out any second, next think I see a bunny jumps around....
Speaking of all this bolting rabbits, I actually saw my dog for the first time after 5 years point and produce one yesterday.... drove home with a smile on my face....
timing of this thread and the actual event couldn't be more weirder....
good work ! he held tight
