I understand it. The director doesn't, excuse the pun, have a dog in the fight. Probably knows SFA about docking for or against. He does however have a commercial to make where if he or she uses a docked dog the PR department is probably going to have to deal with the letters from nutters about the woes of docking. There is also a chance, with some companies so bloody insecure, that if the back lash is enough the ad gets pulled and their agency never gets used again. Using an docked negates all of those risks for them. It's their smart choice and if you think it through NOT creating attention to the issue is, in this situation good for us, because a public backlash (and they do bloody happen even over stupid little things like this) would do US more harm that the anti-docking folks. We have a legitimate agenda... they don't, pick battles that matter.Good call on their part.
I don't agree with the nutters. at all, but I don;t see this as being any platform to intelligently stand on to make a point no one outside of gundog circles will get.
