Cool foto @Munsey...very neat...
EeeBees, what year would you say that was?
@sako75, I am not really sure when the foto was taken, but I do know that they drew a ballot under the Land Reform act of 1885...although they arrived here in 1902...
No, @JRW87, he was from England...Ormskirk, West Lancashire...
I was going to say about 1910ish guessing he is in his late 20's or early 30's
Have you searched your family name in Paperspast?
Not good if your name is Smith. Got a lot of info on ours
@sako75, thank you for giving the Paperspast site name...I will do so...
@sako75, after talking to big brother, the dates for them arriving in this country was way too late as great grandfather's eldest son attended the Boer War...so I was completely up the wrong creek...but thanks to you sharing the link with Paperspast, and me ringing my brother in Oz, this lead on to searching for the Boer War etc etc and this is where our conversation ended up...the Wellington Amazons who fundraised to help with money for the guys in South Africa...it so cracks me up to hear women today proudly proclaim that they are feminists...whatever that means...look at these chickies...
