lol, thats is kinda true:pacman:
and kinda sad.
gotta get more Setters on the ground to have options .I forsee a few litters coming from Failte "felcha"
thats what shes here for... good luck!
i agree there needs to be a few more around, and am confident you will place most of your first litter, however the gundog market is a strange beast, you will struggle to home regular litters of pups, no matter how well bred they are.
i'd advise a frozen semen litter first off to hedge ya bets and take advantage of the homes waiting, it will give you the most bang for ya buck as far as genetic diversity goes as you will quickly get to saturation point by using the old kiwi lines first........ it's a timing thing.
There would be very few, if any, nz setters that don't have woody in them at lest once.
It does need more diversity used.
May I ask, what to me is an obvious question?
Given the known limited bloodlines here (according to this thread) why didn't you get her inseminated over there before she was shipped over?
Surely that would be the easiest way to increase bloodlines here and be cost efficient?
age,timing of cycle .....
the most talented English Setter NZ has ever seen ,why wouldnt you?
1. A dog no one else in NZ could handle except for our greatest handler. Noel recounts a story where Leon rings him up ranting "come pick your dog up. I think I've nearly thrashed him to death"
2. He was linebred on in the later Wingfield litter without success, because:
3. It is widely considered he never threw a pup in his own league.
How I wish there was stuff of the pure Sharnberry blood still around! I'd be a taker.
And thats a relative statement too. The most talented setter of recent times, not ever seen. I' ve heard enough people say he was just another Sharnberry Shooter, except 30 years on Leon knew how to handle him. I honestly think you have a wealth of good blood here, as Uplander says don't bottleneck yourself too early
he never threw a pup as good -that we dont know because few were ever trialed. He had fire for sure but he was a grand field trial champ and could be handled by both Noel and Leon
hoprfully Inti
failed last test will try again
What percentage constitutes a fail...so hyperthetically if there was a motility of 95% prior to freezing, what percentage dead after being frozen is a fail...surely even a count of 30 to 50% of 'swimmers' would result in fertilization would it not, particularly if the bitch was under premium husbandry?
this is Rigby , the first dog to mate to Failte our new bitch . Rigby is a Woody son and I am told a great hunter.
Very nice...
Is she out yet...? Put Inti in the cage and take her for a spin this weekend, im sure they wont look that close lol
had a great afternoon on pigeons today awakening the dogs senses to the feathered rats
Her facial markings are curious!!! Inti looks very happy!!! I hope she does really well. What is her name?
her name is failte pronounced ?FALL CHA.She is a real little stunner. She set her first sky rat today and is starting to settle down.
I would be getting a cage for the back of the wagon if i were u brian , its a safer way to transport your dogs
yes , I agree with you there Z forsure!!!
Interesting starting again with a totally untrained pup that does not even know its name .It has been many years for me since being in this situation and I had forgotten how full of life these little guys can be :o
:D:D:D
I cannot at thia stage let go free this little rocket ship as she just runs and runs awaaaayyyy. Went after her after she broke loose yesterday -result foot in water in a creek while crossing next to fence- hand on wire tring to get through - electric wire....Electric afro and any deppresion i had is now gone after the elecro tratment.
