Pedigree Dog Biscuits taste great !

Got unexpectantly stuck out in the bush last night due to the clouds, overcast sky and hence low light.

Wasn't planning on it so only took water and some Pedigree 'small breed' dog bites for the 7 mth old pup.

Well, I can tell you that the dog didn't get any as they taste too bloody good! The red ones are chewy as made of meat, the green ones are rock hard as made of vegetables and the brown ones are in between both in terms of texture.

Glad I brought some water though to wash them down as the brown ones have a certain aftertaste that is not the best (although they taste good when you are chewing them :thumbsup: ).

A work colleague sat down at the smoko table a couple of years ago with some crackers and what he thought was some tinned fish. After eating half the tin he passed comment on the flavor of the fish, picked up the tin, and realised he was eating the cats dinner :XD:

I had a cousin when I was young who would unironically eat tux dog biscuits and tell me they were great

I wont fall for that twice they tasted like asshole but drier

Hahaha, my siblings and I would occasionally chew on a tux. Not sure why because the house was only 100 metres from the shed and we weren't starved as kids. In case anyone is wondering, the descriptions of taste in the above posts are quite true.

If you start cocking your leg to pee then I guess you'll know why .... ;)

Turns out I also got some 'Love 'em' Beef Jerky real meat treats. However, it says on the pack 'Pet Food Only'...

You know... I should be cooking dinner at the moment ....single man and all that...and I just happened to have these 'Love 'em Beef Jerky for pets' on my desk.

Guys, really I'm not joking! They are bloody delicious !!
They have a tomato coating on them....red on the outside and pure Australian beef inside (yep...Oz imported).

Now I'm wondering if I can mix them with Maggi Soup mix and have a full-on meal? :thumbsup:

Now as a younger man I worked in a small meat works (mamaku). I was yardman, shooter and truck driver. I delivered the "pet food" to a petfood manufacturer and when they say not for human consumption you should believe them.

Been eating tux the big ones for years taste like a hard chocolate wheaten less the chocolate ( now theres an idea with whitakers ) ruff ruff

must be a K1W1 thing as I too have nibbled on a tux of two in my youth....
mate got all fancy and chocolate coated a whole packet of cat bikkies,put them in bowl on table at party and the guests scoffed the lot..

I know of fella who got butcher to make his salamies in the big 3-4" round dog roll tubes.... makes it fit on sammy better when you think about it.

One of the hardest men I have ever seen [shear equally fast with both hands] and broke in his own farm in back country Taranaki would look after his small sons in the shearing shed and give them Tux dog biscuits to chew on as they crawled around in the shed . The boys are are grown men well over 6ft tall amd hard as nails as their father. In winter the boys would walk around bare feet because they didn't like shoes. Like in ice over the puddles .

Back in the mid '60's when I was shooting for a living I awoke one morning to find my camp completely cut off by a raging flood. As it was the end of the month I was due to go out on a supply run. Bacon, eggs and beans for breakfast and that was my tucker gone! I spent two days sharing a 50lb bag of Tux biscuits with my dogs until the water dropped far enough to expose the flying fox that was normally 8 feet above the river. Just like chocolate wheatens without the chocolate as M101a1 has commented!

Had all the health requirement for human consumption, but the do gooders axed the programme because of the image of feeding people "dogfood" .

Mate of mine who does home kill makes his meat patties this way freezes and then bandsaws them as required.

Yeah it's mainly the low level of bacteria in it which animals ( with a much stronger immune system than us) can cope with but us....not so much.

Once a year I dry out beef liver for dog treats as it's too expensive at the rate my mrs gives it to the dogs. Usally do a few extra bags for mates at cost and hand it over at work, it never fails that someone new at work will ask "what's that" & my mate will hype up the Biltong that I make for him. It never ceases to amaze me how polite most people are and they will keep eating rather than spit it out saying it's nasty, That they will do as soon as he spills the beans though.
