Yup, there is definately a time and a place for dressing appropriately because of traditions.....but also need to dress for the weather. At a Spaniel trial in Taupo last year the weather was complete shite, so wet-weather gear was a order of the day (Kawhia will recall the day, as his Cocker eye-wiped mine on a retrieve).....by the time I left that afternoon, my boots were full of water.
GWP no low brow dog gqhoon - not my pick but they do a great job !!
I'm happy with mine, but I consider them a meat dog.
Would love to run a Pointer or Setter one day. Am always impressed by the bird-work of the Pointers of the Connors and Setters of Gaskin and Sheeley.
get some tweed and a pointer and go kick some arse !!
i love the tweed, but nice pants and a clean jacket and boots will have to do for me, would love to run a setter one day and will, but it would be hard to get one going with the lack of game around here ..... public land hunting is hard going .....
I know - i haven't run my dog over the last several seasons as I just got dismayed with the shitty grounds I had to run instead of wide open moors , forest cut over my god what crap that is to navigate through .Upland Northlander got me onto some of his home grounds which have been a pleasure to run and I have enjoyed running my dog there even with low bird numbers --maybe we should all run flushing dogs .
what a great idea
Agree totally Danny, or the ultimate in small game.......Hares!

just read this whole thread before realising Hoon was on here, welcome bro..Brian, you struggle to walk the dunes in tramping boots, shorts n T shirt, how the fuck are you going to cope in tweed.
the only pointer land i got is rotoehu forest , but parts of that would be spaniel country also, hammered by alot of hunters but a day out is a day out
thats why hunting spaniels is good some trails are on rabbits..... is i ever get to a trail that is ..........the young dog been chasing to many runners :pacman:
when I was hunting years ago the local Iwi took control of the forest and no one could shoot the forest for some time -is it open to all comers now ? I remember a few trialers used to hunt it with some success -an American guy that is a scientist with Robyn Gaskin
Tussock making offers like that will have every upland hunter on the forum being your best mate. Now if you had Chukar ground also...
Told you they would come out of the woodwork Tussock!
Did I hear someone boasting quail
Keep away all Tussocks my new mate :ninj:
Tussock, be aware of those who ask to be invited, from past experience they usually return year after year and dont bother telling you,
That's one way to stop people from asking :D
Haha!
showing respect is more than not entering private property, its also about repecting someone who shows you a puplic area that you wouldnt otherwise know about
