    Retriever training dvds

    So i got a wee golden lab called Beau he has good hunting lines. Now its time to train him. Does anyone know of any good training dvds im not much of a reader. Thanks

    Thanks KC.10 weeks WH so i want to start obedience. he's a clever we bugger knew his name in a day and sat after showing him a couple times. Already the smartest dog ive had.

    At that age I wouldn't worry about doing much more than that. Get that nailed over the next few months, each week or so just add something else.
    Come, then to the whistle, then to the hand
    Sit, same as above
    Walk at heel, same as above.

    Oh look, there's two months training already. then another month doing the lot, by then he'll be at a better age to start other stuff.

    Worst thing you can do is go to obedience club... they will fill your head with treat training and your dog with treats... none of it will have any use in training for the field.

    Forget DVD's, haven;t seen many good ones for retrievers, although the ones Kaimai Cocker recommends could be good I haven;t seen them. If you can get a copy of James Lamb-Free's "Training your retriever" all you'll ever need.

    Thanks WH and Ruff i will check that book out.
    Has anyone heard of Bill Hillmann his dvd seems highly rated. Any other good resources for training dogs from very basics to advanced i know f all.

    The books by James Lamb-Free are the best I have seen for retriever training. try BookFinder.com: Search for New & Used Books, Textbooks, Out-of-Print and Rare Books
