as someone who lost his hunting mate recently i now understand that i let him down by not having the control i should have.
but control is not cowering or standing over nor is it begrudging them a bit of comfort that they will well earn.
thier working lives will be hard enough and our job is to nurture thru training not dominate thru harshness or some sence of thinking we need to standover or ''treat im mean to keep im keen''to get our message thru.
You are absolutely right. My dogs are very compliant and a lot of that has to do with the trust they have in me. Bullying a dog might have got a command obeyed for some, but it will never build a team.
