    Serious Question

I have heard in the media that parvo virus has killed a few dogs in the Manawatu area.

So what age do the pups need vaccinating?

And I'm sure some wise ones on here can tell us a bit about the virus.

Sorry 2nd question are all your dogs vaccinated for this disease?

I hope this thread dosen't go viral

Dundee, the vaccinations for puppies, or at least the normal routine is that they are vaccinated for kennel cough, parvo etc at six, nine and twelve weeks...it is recommended that they be vaccinated thereafter annually...

Agreed, get them vacinated. A theory mind you. Years ago when I had my pig dogs in town, Parvo was quite rampant,a lot of good dogs where lost. I reackon that Flies where the carriers, flying from Kennels to kennels.

Being a townie , you have too really watch out , have heard the virus can last up to 2 years in soil ? . So as a rule you dont take a pup out until they had all shots 12 weeks I think . A lady down road pup got it a few months ago ,survived but was touch and go . Biggggg vet bill too . !
