    Wanting a new GSP pup.

My wife and kids are really hassling me to find a new pup.
I lost my last and best dog in 2011 and could not bring myself to replace him.

Just reading a post Gapped axe made in another thread some of his words hit home with me.

"Don't get the same breed as you will always compare."

Pretty much the reason I have not been able to consider a new pup till now.

I will get another GSP because I am ready to do so and I accept my last dog is irreplaceable and I look forward to working and learning with a new one.
I am not interested in any other breed. I know what I want just not where to start.
So, I am after a good breeder with proven gundog stock and hoping I can add a pup to my family in the next 6 or so months.

I would like to be able to choose my own pup in person if possible and will travel anywhere in NZ to do so.
I have searched the GSP breeders page and there is not much on there at the moment.
    Any recommendations will be appreciated.
I have never personally used a recognized breeder before.
My last dog was probably a fluke as he was an engagement gift and only the father was a gun dog.

Some fella in the Manawatu imported two dogs from Germany not long ago. That would be where I would start

I have a mate who trials GSP's in the gun dog circles and is starting a breeding program in the future, I'll give him a call.

Gail Blankley would be a good start. She is pretty involved with the GSPs. Shes in Auckland but will know where to start with litters available in NZ. Give me a call when youre back and I can put you in touch.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

I'm onto my 3rd Black Lab - now 11 weeks old Mack is getting thoroughly "mothered" by my wife she calls him "Mackie MooMoo" He is a hunting dog!
He now has a penance for tummy rubs nearly goes to sleep.
So all in all the bonding is going well as are the 1st training steps. I have pulled my old training book for retrievers from the book case blown the dust off and refreshed the memory

I would have brought it up last time we had a chat. Its only in the few days that the cook is getting serious about finding a breeder.
I get back next week so will give you a buzz.
If I seem proactive she will get off my case😆

Not sure on dogs straight out of Germany either. Their english wouldn't be that good I imgine😆

To be fair it is a genuine concern for me having my kids spoil the dog.
    Especially my daughter.
Not worried about the cook as she is farm reared herself and knows dogs.
If I was not working overseas for extended periods it wouldn't be a concern.

I can see you out and about in public with your dog now Bonecrusher.

The dog only reacting/working to Mackie Moo Moo will get you some funny looks if you have to raise your voice a tad😆

Cheers mate. I have plenty of time to pick and choose.
I will not rush into anything. As long as I am looking and giving updates I should get left alone at home.😆
