El B, go back trough the posts. Threads almost always end with a post from the same people. Many people have come into the section, posted a topic or a question and not returned. You may be right, they may not take it to heart, but they don't come back either.

This needs to be a more positive space where people of all levels of experience can come and post without feeling on edge or concerned someone is going to jump down their throat.

My health has significantly improved since not reading posts by certain people :D I am not saying I am a top dog trainer, I am a dog owner and a new hunter, and tbh I can't be bothered reading the dog threads (or taking them seriously) as I tend to want to murder my neighbour after visiting this section of the forum. I'd rather stumble over my own feet and test things out on my own accord. I think as well as scaring away people with good information, this section is also scaring away people who want information.

Dougie , I have seen your run ins but in saying that you don't have to take the advice although I do think they were 100% correct with certain methods mentioned .
I don't view myself as being aggressive toward others but certainly hold my ground and ask the questioned especially if they are not answered to my satisfaction .
Yes some of us ramble on -yes some others are more aggressive in the way they answer but you can also imagine the frustration with certain people that truly know having black called white when they know its black !
I myself with training will put it on the paddock to show my stuff good bad or ugly and do it more than once to show its no fluke --I always put up so I dont have to shut up .
I think others with less experience should share the experiences without fair of being mocked but in saying that should not take offense if questioned and take good advice when offered .:D

I personally find the dog forum quite dynamic and fun .Tussock I generally dont try to offer advice or offer criticism in the areas I know nothing about -deer -pigs -lurching .Others may but my 2 cents worth would only put you in debt

I am also jumping on the band wagon here that the only advice I have ever been given has been through PM. I will not spend hours reading between the lines when given a comment like 'the information is all there, you just aren't seeing it'. All I see is Dougie you are doing the wrong thing, you are so stupid, you can't even see it, what a dumbass etc etc.

Never been given any advice, unless you count Dougie you are wrong and doing the wrong thing as advice. I've had a whole lot of positive punishment chucked at me...a whole lot of you're wrong but never try this. I can go through every 'wrong' option in the comfort and saftey of my own home until I find what works for me, I don't need to have a bunch of rightous people on my back rubbing my nose in every 'inside accident' thanks.

Yes "WRONG" without a fix doesn't help. Keep on posting on the dog forum Dougie as its ones experiences that make a good forum

No one has ever called you stupid on here that I have ever seen... No one has called you a dumbass... or do you have threads to quote where you were? Are you projecting onto me how you felt when I responded to some of the things you posted... if so, how is that my fault?

You've been offered a lot of advice, you rarely take it and then act all hurt that by offering the advice you asked for was somehow an insult because you were told what you were doing wouldn't/doesn't work and to try something else... I can;t see how putting such fragility onto other forum members is really fair.

I sucked it up learned and now have dogs to be proud of... don't ask if you don;t want answers... Nah I don't have off season :D joking my off season is when the maize is growing other wise I will be shooting. Nope I dont even know of any dog clubs not really interested in them either tbh just interested in my dog

To elaborate on that... I do not, will not cannot give you a paint by numbers answer that so many want... dog training has never worked that way. I can, and do give people handling techniques to adopt that will get them their result. If when I post that, they argue with me the merit of what I am saying, it comes as absolutely no surprise to me that
they get no result... and then that is somehow still my fault....?????

I can get a down at a distance with any dog, I've talked at length about what I do with dogs, you responded at length about how some of my methods, and those of people I respect are so flawed and to quote "ridiculous"... the fact is... you want an answer on your terms... you've been indoctrinated into a mind set that has you believing Milan is an idiot, (Your words) and yet he holds many of the answers you seek... keep listening to the people putting you crook and you'll get no where, but I am not going to change how I train, handle or share freely those methods to suit your sensibilities... accept what you are doing is not working.... that some of the people you have been "trained" to believe are idiots may actually have the answers and the dog training world will open up to you... right now you have set the parameters and insist any advice you are given fits within them... sorry... I don't have parameters.

club days are a great meeting place for other hunters for one and a great place to learn some good skills from other finatics !!! and a good place to bench mark your dogs ability and see if your can help him improve or maybe improve others .North Auckland has a club as does south Auckland

Dougie -teach a dog to go down at distance -start with a drop command at close quarters -like next to you -introduce the whistle with the command at the same time still at close quarters --from there you will progress further out as as long as the dog knows the close quarter command it will react the same at distance :fighting:

Seriously dude, of course it wont.... it will have worked out previously at what distance your control falls off...... Only.... ONLY if your initial training has been designed to ensure it never works out your distance of authority... you'll never get a distance down of any real usefulness.

I give you my own experience and it has worked for me --I am now currently the world champion of putting a dog down at distance -maybe even champion of the Universe but I am unsure and may need to go back to the mirror to ask myself again
