Don't slack.
Took me 2 years to do imports etc to getting to a first mating just now.
I was dealing with young dogs...you aren't. Your fertility window isn't getting any better.

Gotta find a bitch first;) if anyone has Earl bonners number please pm me
No, I believe they were in love with his sire, "Brek" the most winning show pointer in Italy for the last 20 years. He and his progeny command big money
please tell me it hunts like a machine :XD:
dunno but betta be pur;)ty like
By the looks of their website, the only hunting that dog does is seagulls on Manly beach
Depends who you ask. Not my idea of a pointer. The true pointers qualities come from within, its inherent abilities to find and point birds. Not its angulations and converging head planes :pissed off:
...Anyway, back to breeding hairy dogs
what is there web site? Any clues about Aussi pointer setter club sites on the net-cannot find
I am talking of the sire of the dog you are talking about Kawhia
Here is a link to the Italian imports pedigree, you can access the rest of their website though it. Granted the Italians are believers of the dual purpose pointer, and that it will work better than the show stuff around, its still not exactly the working lines they tout it to be. Mind you, seeing Italian trials lines, these imports possibly may be better suited to NZ than an Italian working/trials blood dog. Time will tell. However I saw Katrinas dog out of this sire running at Titoki, the half aussie one that Kawhia is referring to, it certainly had pace.

The other Italian import into the same kennel, from basically the same lines, both out of Brek:

Aussie Trials website for you El Borracho
Working Gundog Association of Australia WGAA
THE Pointer and Setter site isnt really a site is it , its more of a blog notice board -dont they have a club site as such ?
I think thats it, trials are announced and litters etc. if you find another let me know
we are a niche inside of a niche:oh noes:
yep...
are you interested in a English Setter?
They aren't flews, they are spoilers, meant to help downforce and traction when running. Kinda like a wing on a race car.
El borracho I just finished reading a translation of Tesios book, if you want some light reading on breeding, that will tear the panties off your mind and blow it wide open
I have been on the phone tonight talking to a few people, here and in Australia about Setters. One breeder here will breed if there are enough interest shown, great stock too--anyone interested ?
it was written a very long time ago, well before modern software. To think of him working out inbreeding coefficients with a pencil over 10 generations defies logic. Originally called Puro-Sangue - Animale da Esperimento it was translated about 10 years back, It now goes under the name of 'Tesio, in his own words'. It can be picked up here in NZ through an online book store based here so not hard to get at all
I think I remember Leon talking about him as an astute person --not for me :yaeh am not durnk:
Astute? I think he bordered on insanity
fanatical!
Anyway, how many of these setter pups are you taking
if they happen one bitch, sadly it would be unrealistic for me to take more including my dog
so you are only after a replacement?
Yes and no - I want to breed my dog and get a few more Setter pups into the country -I have two contacts with people with Bitches , one I spoke to tonight and the other I spoke to a year ago and he failed to met up with me as arranged -a Dargaville chap whom I will also talk with again .
One problem with people breeding they fear being left with pups and like to have at least half pre sold so I am told
Come on...you got plenty of room in that Land Rover and I'm sure you've got a few more rain ponchos
Yeah got your message, got something organized.
I need to do a few pigeons with my dog -can you organize that when your back RCGSP?
Yup, no prob. Got loads of em here and traps
