well I must be a hard barstard.....my dogs do what I plurry well tell them....Ive taken dog to vet,it got grumpy so I did too. grabbed dog in way it had no option but to comply...hold bottom jaw and it cant bite.... slip your lead in half hitch over muzzle and hold it close...dog that cant open mouth cant close it on something...but yip you NEED to socialize dog...Meg is bad enough and has nipped afew folks...but not when Im in control.... I have zero issues with her at vets other than her nervious pee.... now Poppie on other hand...Ive gone completly different route...across my shoulders is her safe place.....she got monstered by big dog and poked her top fang through top lip...bled like stink, swelled up huge...we werent sure if broken jaw...vet gave her wee bits of jerky while giving antiinflamatory and antibiotic jab...oh man the labrador is strong in this one...jerky...jerky yummmy jerky...we took her back in 2 hours later when swelling had gone down.I walked in with Poppy across my shoulders, walked over to vet..she looked at me,looked at lip, gave it a wee tweak, and more jerky.......job done..Poppy thinks the vets is nice place...
maybe arrange with vet to bring your dog in and get treats just for a bit....the muzzles they had, cloth ones are worse than hopeless...if going to muzzle use a mesh cage like shepherds have when poison is about.... but the half hitch on leash works well if you hold it up by knot...it doesnt need to be really tight/painful...just enough to stop opening jaws...
rugerman and Moa Hunter like this.
