    To be fair, labs are-
    good family dogs,
    fairly even temperament,
    strong constitution on the hill,
cross over into most jonres of hunting easily,
usually have a cast iron guts,
    and are reasonably intelligent.

Spaniels, in my opinion, don't fit the brief.

i got a 3/4 lab 1/4 weimaraner cross he has a great temperament good with kids not scrapy not a garbage disposal like a lot of labs are i use him for ducks and phesent hunting i have taken him deer hunting but i got a bit of training to do there but he is very adaptible
its hard where i live because i live in the winterless north so take,s quite a drive to get to deer country and the other thing to be very aware of is 1080 it kills dogs REAL easy and stays active in the invironment for a very long time ie in bones of animals that its killed that have rotted away to just bones SO be very aware i know this from my pig hunting days it made some of our dogs very sick or killed them
going back to dog breeds i am a fan of cross breeds as you can the best of both breeds if you work at it look and think hard about what you want out of a dog
the other side is you got to do your bit to get what you want out of a dog

Yeah, I didn't have much time for such an active dog back then, with a 2 year old, a new born and 50 hour working week.
It was stupid we took him.
Still I disliked him so much I could not get another.
A year later we got a little Maltese pup. He was very loved and died at 12, that was was a couple years back.
    Shit now I feel old.
