    Breeding Opportunity.

Hi all during this time of lockdown I thought I'd extend a possible opportunity to any dog owners who want to put a dog over my bitch...maybe you have a dog you'd like a pup from.

The bitch is a collie x heading dog.Been used to find and bail goats, pigs and indicates when deer are around, will track and find injured or dead deer.this of course comes down to training and opportunities.

    She has a good nature,very trainable,and a high hunting drive.17 kgs in size,so what I'd call smaller.

She's black with white chest, shoulders and legs.I cannot seem to be able to post pictures, being told all pic's are too big.

Im looking to use a pup from her in similar hunting situations with the addition of indicating and leading me into deer while bush stalking.

I'm leaning heavily towards a lab,but also considering heading dogs or similar.

She will possibly be on heat in the next few months, last heat was November.

So if anyone has a dog they're keen to get a pup from feel free to PM me or add to this thread,or if anyone is keen on a pup do the same.

Prefer someone relitivily local.Pups would be free, and would hope service fee to be also.

Also welcome any comments, opinions or advice to be added to the tread.

Thanks for reading...if you got this far haha.

    That is a generous offer.
I am not in the position to own a dog at the moment but I hope somebody with a good dog will come along.

Thanks,I intend on keeping a bitch pup, then possibly a American bulldog or English bull terrier across that..depending on her size.

Hey mate thanks for the reply

I have looked into the breed and defiantly would if I was going to be using it exclusively on deer.

I'm probably going the Labrador direction for now.

The English pointer looks and sounds like a bueat breed however.

If you wanted to add to the thread your opinion and experience with your dog I'd like to read.

    Cheers.

WireHaired Vizla hmmmm. I thought about one a few years ago, Chexzy Forsek or something, bit soft for my line of work. But a fantastic looking breed.

No,I just done some study on the English pointer and thought it would be a lovely dog ,are the types you mention similar?

I'm looking at the lab and heading dog breeds as I know them well.

How do the pointer types find and bail pigs? I have no experience with them.

Pointers generally don't bail on instinct from what I've observed. I can't speak for English or Brittany pointers though only GSPs, and only the ones I've seen and owned.

My lab x gsp will bail if asked to, but generally he's quite quiet.

I've had 2 full gsps and they weren't that keen on getting close to pigs. One of them would savage the absolute shit out of them after death though, the other would just stand back and growl a bit.
A GWP might bail though, also some GWP's have that instinctive throathold but labs do as well.

If you want one for everything I'd probably be more inclined to go to a heading dog?

    my 2 cents

Really. Best boar we ever got was a 214lb boar which came second behind a famous HB hunter's boar of 216lb. Still rankles.
