calibres to shoot over a indicating dog

hi, what is everyone shooting over their dogs? im finding that the 308 bush pig is making my poor heading dog go deaf! I try get him in behind before I shot but that can't always be the case.

    Is it suppressed?
That should be the main consideration imo. Makes it way more comfortable for the dog.

we also use supressed 308 bushpig . Thought ours was going deaf too , turns out he's just ignorant with selective hearing ..... never misses the word 'TREAT' , even when whispered ....

The dog was super comfortable with the 300BLK but I parked this as the factory subs are useless.

Lehigh (spelling??) pills creates a proper wound channel, but in the current climate of supply issues they are as rare as rocking horse sh&^ ...and/or super expensive.

If I could get some Lehigh projectiles that didn't require remortgaging the house (and someone who can hand load properly) I'd be back on the blackout in a flash.

Other option is to get some cast lead HP’s from Robert and use a full case of trailboss. Will be just supersonic but not too big a boom.

If a .300bo and a .308 are both loaded low velocity both approx same to be used the same, same projectiles is there any difference.
Velocity to energy should be similar?
Other than a few GN powder just means you can make do with a .308 rather than buying .300bo unless you want one.

roberts 151hps are awesome.... Ive tried the subsonic thing and wont go there again...now a case full of trailboss or a mild load will make them even better still.... any good soft projectile at less than full noise/full speed will be quieter.... I shoot with my dog pesent....havent shot directly over her and dont want to do so..its only 1 bound away from tragedy if you do.

90% of time dog will be out to one side or able to be sat so you can step sideways.... good suppressors are gold.
