    Crossed The Rainbow Bridge Today

My last pig-dog, Border Collie-Heading, 13 years old, health problems. Last five years been a indicator dog on deer, still "sneaked" off a few times when a pig was near. Tomorrow will be my first hunt in 40 years without a pigdog or indicator. Picking up a pup next week.

It never gets any easier but a new addition does focus us a little more and takes away some of the darkness

One of my mates once said to me when we lost our old boy last year "the great pumpkin screwed up when he created dogs. A man should have one good dog and many wives over a lifetime rather than the way it actually works out" problem was my wife was in earshot!!
I'm glad you have a pup on the way, I always swear never again for the first week and then...................the pup arrives and that helps

Lab x cattle, have the time plus the territory to train on deer, hope to also show it what's needed with ducks. First pup I've had in 15 years, have been using young rescue dogs for pig hunting, some made the grade, others became pets.

Condolences mate, it is never easy when they leave you behind.
The new pup will have big boots to fill by the sound of it.
We nearly lost our old dog just before Xmas, he is on the mend now and I hope some more good times once he is back on his feet.

    Nice.
I'm sure it will turn out good.

That's a real bummer man it's never easy and never gets easier. Very good idea to get a new pup to help with the grieving. Been a year since I lost my last dog, and lost my girl the year before that. Never a good idea to be without a dog for long so I will be looking for a new dufus very soon.
