    curly coated retrievers

Old fella I know is looking for one, who is breeding them and who has the good stuff? Said old fella is a keen shooter looking for his retirement dog. Doesn't want a lab

Yeah that's why I'd like to know who's got the good blood. One I saw recently was pretty aggressive

There is a guy up here in Clevedon - John someone. I don't know how good his dogs are in the field though. If you know how to contact Eric Douglas (Rotorua Gundog Club should be able to help) he might know who is breeding good Curlies as he had them in the past.

I know Eric well - he just laughed and shrugged when I asked him that. Which is funny since he owned a dog that basically changed the breed world wide - there aren't many Curlies that don't go back to him, as NZ blood was exported widely in the 70s.

There's a breeder Oamaru way you should avoid. The phrase puppy mill comes to mind.

a good one should have a bit of fire, most I've seen including a liver one I owned for a while were on the hot side.
great breed if not a bit smelly, shame they have died off in popularity but still a few around.

Can't recall their name. But they wouldn't let me sight the mother and my bitch has been disappointing to say the least. A family pet but no hunting dog except she isn't gun-shy. I've had a CC/lab X and he was was awesome.
