    Deer Ears as Dog Treats

Hi there, just got a few deer ears on the weekend and wanting to use as treats for my dogs. What do people do with them before giving to their dogs? If you dry them out, how do you go about it? or do you just give them fresh? keen to hear what people do.

I've never tried but I would think singe the hair off then bake in the oven on low for a couple of hours to dry the skin out a bit ?
Lol I have bought a bag of lambs ears b4 and then when doing a homekill lamb I've thought why don't I collect the ears too. Decided it was too much fluffing around. I think the ears might be smoked as well

I used to buy pigs ears too before they got stupid expensive

Funny enough we just received a 1kg bag of these today. They didn't have dried pig ears in stock so tried these instead, they're hairless and dried so try @rugerman s idea.

This place is cheap with free/cheap delivery
1kg bag of dear ears was $72.08 with 26 in it ($2.77 each).
Large beef ears are $3 each

I work in the freezing works, and we package 13.90kg of lamb ears in the pet food room before sending down the chain. Guess they get dryed or cured for treats after they leave here.

Thanks for the comments. Interestingly, I did read online somewhere that the hair is really good for the dog and their digestive system when had in moderation. I am just not sure how well they dry out while still hairy. I will give something a go and hope they turn out good.
