I have run them with the ones over the shoulders and the saddle backs. I recon they don't get tired as quickly over the shoulders.

I think saddle bags are just another gimmicky dog accessory. What could your dog possibly carry whilst hunting that you couldn't?

I hunted a few times with my brother inlaw (before i found out he was colour blind and couldnt even see the deer before I shot them ). He had a pack for his lab that could carry 12 cans of beer.

Must say, it was nice to have a beer in camp after a days work in the hills.

Can't hunt my dog whist she's caring a pack, only reason she comes is to hunt for me. Seems like a new Duley fad to me.

Never liked them myself, how hard is it to put half a dozen tux bikkies, or better yet those mighty mix ones in ya pack for an over nite hunt, they weigh very little and it's not like you are carring them out.. A decent feed the nite before you go works too.
Most dogs spend more time round the house and have a little bit of excess regardless, even dogs that get out weekly and are active can go a few day with min feeding, of course a successful hunt provides a top up if needed.

You forgot the biccies needed for 4 or 5 days and the cans of waikato!!!!!

mine drink water........plenty of it around.

800g a day x 5 = 4kg max

If I'm going on an overnighter I don't take food at all. A 3 dayer if there's no veni somethings wrong. A ten dayer, kibble packs down to nothing and fits around other objects in your pack

Do you birdshooters do a few hard out ten dayers?
