If they are chewers pea straw would be the go, anything else could become a chewing hazard. I know someone who lost a pup recently due to the pup chewing something that contained nylon line, then the vet opened the pup up, it was all entangled through her bowels, to pull it out would have cut her into a million pieces. I'd go straw or nothing at all in the kennel boxes
