HORSE:thumbsup:
Choose a name that is easy for the dog to understand .Mine dog is called Inti -a Chetchuan name from Peru meaning El Sol meaning the Sun . For a working dog make everything easy and quick
All other dogs I've had, I gave simple quick sounding names that had the first sound as the most dominant (if that makes any sense).
I just have a thing about never using a name twice, so I need fresh ideas.
Hunting dog use this theme I've got a black lab "Ruger" next dog will be "Bruno or Mauser"

Ive got a pair of GWP x Labs, 15mnths and 11mnths, named them Magnum and Chester. Quite fitting Magnum tips the scales at around 38Kg, he's a pretty solid boy

Bonecrusher I know of another "Ruger" lab as well.
Hunting themed names are always good for a hunting companion eh. I've been thinking along those lines as well.
Duck Gunner you have a couple of real nice dogs there.
Ti.
Must be a bitch on heat as my "Ruger" is off sowing his wild seed tonight very unlike him unless that is the case
I've probably responded to your post on the other forum with a name I used many years ago. Zen.
Cheers guys! Keep them coming!!
Hope to pick up the new girl in 5-6 weeks. She's only 3wks old at the mo so plenty of time to choose a name.
How about Teak, Roe Ill think of others latter
Meg, Jay are a couple of mates dogs names that are short
my cuurent dog is Lylee but only as I didn't want to change her name, I prefer shorter.
Girl, Bright, Bel, Mel are a few others I have come accross
jessie is one ive liked.
Had a small heading dog on the farm named Dime - seemed appropriate as she could turn on one!
I like the idea of calling them a wild sound...like Hock say (said well enough it sounds like a hind barking)...so you avoid being out in the wilderness calling out Swiggy...or something...:D
I read some where about a guy that named his dog "syndrome"
Got some funny looks when he yelled out "DOWN SYNDROME" at the beach etc.
Mine is Named Zac quick and easy to yell:D
Narrowed it down to "Tia"
(loan) (noun) deer - a general term for all species of deer.
I reira anō hoki te poaka puihi, te tia, te pikopiko me te kōmata (TTR 2000:206). / There there were also wild pig, deer, fern fronds and the tender shoots of the cabbage tree.
When naming think of some of the commands you will use. For instance name the dog "Kip" and it sounds a lot like "Sit" to a dog.... and so on... I find two syllable names totally different to all commands are best. At the end of the day, like racehorses, top dogs fit even the weirdest names.
We had a weekend away to go and collect the pup(s).
Ended up bringing back another as well. Mrs saw it and fell in love with it and there was no way we were leaving it behind, apparently.
So now we have 2 pups. (Tia and Pippa)
I now have to go hunting more often to get dog tucker - Bummer!!
Brought another dog back as well for another couple here in CHCH as well.
So 3 pups and 2 kids in a car for 5hrs wasn't too bad.
I'll post a couple of pics of the girls - when I can get them to stay still for 5 secs lol.
I told you that she would want both didnt I!!!
Were you told to "sit - stay":D
I will ring ya tonight
Got them to stay still for enough to take some pics. But only just lol
Pippa

Tia

Two youngsters at one time...still, at least the hair puling and greying will be over and done with in one swoop:D Go little ones, go!!
Or run both on, keep the pick and flick the dud
I certainly don't do things the easy way. haha
Tia has a very good nose already and Pippa has got the brains. Will be interesting to see how they develop.
Best of luck in your quest RRAH:)
PM sent RRAH ;)
Hahaha Cheers Guys! I swear to god I've fallen in love with my mates gsp's funnily enough one's called pippa too and she's a character alright and by character I mean a great gun dog..
If any of you guys are in the central north island I'd be keen to meet up as I should be going down to napier in early July so just let me know if you want to catch up:)
I've always liked the name NADZ for a dog so that if some bugger I don't like walks onto the property I could just point at him and say to the dog "Go NADZ". Alas my missus has never seen the funny side of that.
I have had a couple of bitches over the years that I have named 'boy'. The Tuhoe around where we lived all called their daughters 'boy'
Good name, its short, sharp and easy for the dog to recognise.
