    Dog sleeping bags

Been taking our GSP x on her first few hunts, up till now she’s been fine with a dog coat sleeping beside me in the tent or tarp but having just got back from a couple of frosty nights being kept awake by a shivery mutt trying to crawl into the sleeping bag every hour or so going to have to rethink things. Ended up unzipping it and sharing but less than optimal as she is a wriggle bum and tends to want to lie all over you. Typically going light weight so I usually wear my warm gear and throw the raincoat over her but she wasn’t buying into that plan.

Thinking of buying an old kids sleeping bag, cutting it down to dog size and putting a bit of old school foam bed roll to insert in it. Yes she typically sleeps inside (lost that battle).

Anyone else have so good tricks they use?

Used old wool Jersey for my old girl GSP
Cut the sleeves short and great
Got some odd looks from the local cockies drive in up the road on the Quad
    She loved it

Must find old pics and scan them
Unfortunately some of those 80's pics are showing up at Funeral's now :-(

I bought a couple of cheap sleeping bags for my 2 hunting 'Dobies'. This works out fine when we are 'camping out of the car'. They get a warm bed, synthetic fill - which is easy to wash and take care of, I get to keep my down sleeping bag clean and dry. If they want to get all filthy before bedtime then they can sleep in it! I haven't changed the sleeping bags in any way - just unzip half way down and the dogs crawl in themselves.

Bit different when we are living out of a backpack - one gets my Swazi anorak, the other gets my fleece hunting shirt. I have learned to accept that I smell like a wet dog from the first night onwards!
