Simply slice liver into 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch strips, and place onto the racks of the dehydrator. At a temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit, dehydrate for approximately eight hours. The liver strips should be slightly pliable. They can be stored whole as strips and then broken down into little pieces to use for treats.23 Apr 2021

Got an animal last night. Whacked the offal into the dehydrator.

I buy offal every year and make a bulk lot, I made the mistake of leaving the dehydrator outside to cool down a bit too long and the dogs decided it was easier to help themselves than behave themselves. They ate so much that the next day I was picking up dog shit with a sponge.

Fat doesn't dry well so I trim off as much as I can then I dry it on high for 24 hours and then let it cool down so it breaks free of the plastic racks easier.

Did 8 hours on high. They came out sweet. Dogs love them. Just used the heart, liver and kidneys. Got 2 animals this morning so 3 trays on the go.K9 Products in Clive in HB have a huge range of dog treats. Never going to discard offal again. My dogs wont eat raw offal.

Yep. I carry out the liver, lungs, kidney and heart from my deer (obviously dependent on shot placement). Dice them up and then dehydrate for dog treats. Usually end up with approximately 500-600gm worth once it’s dehydrated. I then vacuum pack it into small bags for storage. Keeps really well.

The local animates sells the same stuff for $20-25 per 100gm.
