    Fertilizer dust in my eyes

My good wife took our wee brown buddy for last drive today.
he is now sleeping peacefully under our bedroom window with a hare to chew on during his journey to the big duckpond in the sky.
2010 was his big first day on gamebirds and he never looked back...till his eyes crapped out..even last season blind as a bat he still swam out by nose, grabbed mallard and swam back to my voice.
really pleased I made effort this past season to take him out for paddle in kayak,he was happy as pig in shit, just chilling out behind me with yak full of dead geese n ducks.
he was terror on wallabies, never ever gave up...we had him up mt studholnm 4 years ago and wee shit found possum down in gully which I had to go and dispatch..then he found another in bluffy area..I stomped on it..dog took 3 steps backwards...only trouble was 2 of them were into thin air...straight down he went about 5 mtrs then SMASHED head on rocks, flipped over n over in air before smashing down onto more rocks another 5 mtrs lower still...I thought I would be climbing down to broken dog and putting him out of misery...but OH NO... a wallaby jumped out of bush right beside him, probably wondering what the hell just happened..Nugger coughed out big ball of possum fur and took off in hot pursuit yapping his fool head off..wallaby stopped 125 yards away and our son flattened it with 308 BLR...Nugget was on it before it stopped kicking...

That's a tough time to go through Micky. Our pet cat of 15 yrs died recently in my arms and all he ever hunted was our pet budgies , but I still miss the little bugger. There will always be a hole that never quite gets filled in your life but give it time and you'll find a new hunting buddy to make new memories with.
They're not called man's best friend for nothing eh...
