I like the look of collie x labs, both being smart dogs, the missus like pure bred collies, i do as well just not sure how one would go with guns? Pure bred labs seem to get a bad rep because of the breeding in NZ?

The question is what type of hunting do you do?

Don't choose a dog by its looks and cuteness, that hopefully won't get in the way while hunting... might aswell not get one at all...
Choose one that suits the type of hunting you do and the eviroment you leave it.... which means don't buy a 300m ranging english pointer or setter when you live in central Auckland...

If I were to get a dog that is chilled out and quiet and cuddly. I'd go with a vizsla, the softer of the Versailles... That was my plan C when I was looking for a dog anyway...
