Thread: huntaway or heading dog

I got a plain eyed heading dog pup a couple of years ago with the same logic - 'If I can train a gundog to a good standard, I can train a heading dog'. It was a damn sight harder than I thought it would be, that said I didn't have access to a training pen or sheep (Just dairy cows).

I went to a training day with Anna Holland which really helped.

Personally I would get a huntaway - heading dogs are too highly strung.
