    the mighty oskas first kill.

took the afore mentioned potlicker down the river for a run.
now that he fancies himself a rabbit machine I took trusty 20 gauge.
we fany about checking some edges oskar feigning keenness until a hare pops out 10 feet away and lays down.
oskar looks once and attacks even tho the hare possibly outweighed him.
hare runs straight at parked car.
oskar turns him across me and when hare hits turbo and oskis clear I drop him cold.
jesus you,d a thought I dropped a 12vpoint stag he grabs growls at it rolls on but cant lift it like the rabbit.
god im desperate for another dog

FFS-the squire of rakaia is as proud as the windsor ginga with his fisr bairn !seriously tho ,hes right -weve been mates over a decade and when i first met him he had two -the immortal elvis -GSP.rotty cross -shoulders on him like a crusaders front rower -stand in ya mai mai growling like a d8 dozer at idle.drop a goose duck of swan -no matter how far out his nibs would be off and as sure as christ made little apples the big jaws would appears with goods firmly clamped to deposit at BOSSES feet noone else.
Red his GSP-if delvis was a 2mile horse red was an out and out sprinter.higfh wired hewas always raring to go -ive fond memories of red leaving my packtrying tobeat elvisoutthe maimai door only to have the big buggers neck pin him ala being in a cattle crush! the bosses growl wouldhave him back on my pack looking at mefor sympathy
alas elbvis's time had come and after this Red was the bosses lad.hed matured and itwas wonderful to watch hism and the squire inaction.
we had two years shooting the rakaia where red found ducks wed consigned to eternity-if im to give one tribute "he was as honest as sundays long.
then that terrible phone call to say he was gone.,alas enjoying himself on an outing.
the squire might think im being senimental but beneath that gruff no no nonsense shell lies a man who not only loves dogs but knows how t get the best out of them ,and im proud to call him a mate!

yesterday avo we intercepted a covey, bout a dozen birds
it was later in the day as they headed back toward their roost.
I miscalculated how thick the shit they were in was.
and as a bloody bulldozers just pushed all the track crap to the sides .
they flushed behind the mountains of crap as Oscar dived in like a midget spaniel.
occasionaly jumping to see where he was going or the quail.
upshot lesson learned for next time get side on to the crap then let him loose id at least have got a shot or two that way.

got 5 shots of 7 1/2s off at a covey as they flushed fairly staggered but didly?

might go back to 9s had more joy with them the birds are fairly bloody close.

bamboozled oski showed him whose house it is right quick after he bowled him over.
he a thin long big streak of weasel piss for 5 months old .
soon as I figure out why I cant seem to send pics to my email I post some up.
bloody vets tellin people '' 2 cups premium puppy foods all he needs ''
he wore a cover cos he was cold and thin and once he gets over the shits from his one track diet he be packin it on.
I blame the vet for piss poor politicly correct advice.
he,s feckin thin and the day I let a vet tell, me how to fatten a piup up is gonna be a long time away

I know feck all about vislas but fingers crossed this one seems to have plenty of natural retrieving ability.
keepin t fun and no pressure h returns the dokken mallard to hand and seems to have a good mouth .
seems a lot less hyper than a gsp but at 5 months we are definatly testing each others patience
oskar is jealous and I have to remember to take him on his little quail rabbit outings alone.
he deserves that for rekindling my hunting with a dog enthusiasm
    funny as tho
I threw the dokken in a largish puddle up to Oscars chest but only to ollys knees.
Oscar stould over the dokken teeth bared and dared olly to try and take it.
I called him off and olly completed the retrieve.
but you should have seen oski prance out of the water chest out ''showed that bastard didn't i''
