    Missing/lost dogs west coast. (mokihinui)

    Hey guys

a long shot i know but on thursday morn the father inlaw was taking his regular short walk with the 2 family black labs when he stopped in the domain for a yarn the dogs wandered on as they usually did only a couple of hundred meters from home he expected to find them there, only they haven't been seen since.

the dogs spend couple or so months in the area each year whitebaiting etc and know the area well so its hard to believe they are still lost, its a very small catchment of a hundred or so batches a campground and domain and paddocks, we've considered most possibilities like 1080 carcasses coming down the river etc as there were a few at xmas but would still have expected to locate them.

Although 2nd hand info there was "dodgy looking van" seen in the area at the time tinted windows grey/blue in colour, i find it hard to believe any one would take 2 older labs ( 6 & 9yrs) although the younger one could be a useful stud He's chipped.

Needless too say the family is gutted, both good duck dogs in their own right we're being as proactive as possible in the hope they turn up but in the mean time a few extra eyes and ears can only help, supermarket notice boards, pubs, online etc.

2 males , Eddie and king, friendly as.

Go back to the spot you saw them last and drop a t shirt/jacket, some article of clothing from the dogs owners that the dogs could smell. Visit the spot daily, with any luck they maybe parked on the clothing. Fingers crossed for ya mate, not a nice thing to happen, hope it has a happy ending.

You poor bugger I know what you are going through. I lost my black lab years ago up at 'Cattle Creek Hut' in the Ruahines. The bugger slipped his collar and went possuming. I went back after work every evening for 10 days and found him on the 10th. He was scrawney and stunk but it was great to have him back.

Other thing I forgot to suggest is to contact the local council dog control officers for any of the councils around the area.
