    Not behaving

    Hey guys
My 7 month old lab pup has recently started barking all day, not coming when u call, refusing to sit down for food and basically just being a little sh*t. She has been fine since i got her but she's just started playing up the last few weeks. I this just a rebellious phase she's going through as a puppy? Much appreciated

It will be you. You now need to step up and show dominance to the pup, she will be looking for a pack boss (you), so make sure you are there for her. if she won't sit then don't feed, if she barks throw a bucket of water over her or hose her down. better that than a complaint to the dog ranger. All dogs need to know here they sit in an pack/family environment.

It's the age - testing the water's etc....being a clever clogs....imo getting them to use their brain heaps at this stage will help alot too. Agree with the pack mentality. When she's misbehaving, do what her mum would do - push her over, pin her down and hold her there until she stops fighting you. Let her up when you're ready to...and lean over her as well. If she won't sit for food - then she goes hungry for another half an hour. Be as pig headed as her, or she'll run rings around you! She may be barking from boredom too - a nice juicy canon bone cut in half (not lengthways) works great...and when the marrow's gone, stuff it with peanut butter - keeps them occupied for bludy hours!

another thing granddad also said was eye contact. get a big tall block of would like a chopping block and make her get up their and tell her to set then feed her. Granddad would not got as far as he did in the dog trails with out know a thing or too.

Seven months old...do a few retrieves with her every night working up to doing blind retrieves etc, some lead work, get a ball and play with her, take her with you in the vehicle...anything that will reenforce the connection...

The not responding to commands is something that goes with the age/territory, what would worry me is the barking. Barking is also a phase thing BUT if you let it take hold you will be in a world of hurt as should it become a habit it is just about impossible to cure so do whatever you have to do to nip it in the bud.
