Since I started feeding him tiger meat?

Deer in NZ by Lentle and Saxon listed the guts and balls to take down a wounded deer as one of the key things you want in a deer dog. That's where I got the idea from but I dunno maybe that's an unrealistic expectation?

I would start with a dog that does what you say, has a solid heel and a keen nose. The taking down of wounded deer is a small bonus.
