Sometimes this works but maybe not, just turn up with dog, tell mum no prob if you dont like it such and such will shoot it for me, but you got nothing to stand on if she calls your bluff

Deer in NZ by Lentle and Saxon listed the guts and balls to take down a wounded deer as one of the key things you want in a deer dog. That's where I got the idea from but I dunno maybe that's an unrealistic expectation?

similar trick usually works with vets too.

Don't worry about the timid bit, I had a gwp that was to till it was time to take down deer, then she was a machine.

That's good to know wirehunt. A mate of mine who is a farmer was a bit concerned it would be hard going training out bad habits if it had any from the last owner. That's just going off his experience with his heading dogs. What do you reckon?

Phillip you are putting a lot of energy into not getting a dog. I reckon if you want a dog without faults then get a day old pup or a dead one.

Yeah that'll be the go I think when the old dog dies. Mum was warming to the idea of that vizsla but there is no way she'd want a pup doing it's business everywhere.

They don't if you train them. The five week old pups here are already getting well toilet trained.

I knew there was something strange but couldn't work it out. Now i know. On another matter Phillip went out with Twoshotkill's Visla yesterday. The young fellah is hooked on having a hunting dog now.

Yeah cheers for showing me the what it's like, twoshot. I can see it can be hard work but how sweet would it have been if were able to stalk down onto all those deer he winded in the wind blowing up and over the ridge!! Awesome!
