Shitty photo I know but something very strange has happened in this Waikato drought. Both my Staffords now spend all night out on the driveway eating insects that come to the garage lights. I cannot begin to imagine how many they eat. Hundreds? On and on and on they go and they won’t come back in for more than two or three minutes before heading out again. Last night I left them out all night. It started with the black crickets, and now it’s moths. They’ll jump for the moths and take them out of midair.
So now I have two insectivores. Well, anything-edible-ivories. In decades of owning dogs I’ve never seen them do this before.

Why is it that my dogs only ever vomit, or on a very bad day after eating dead something, shit on the carpet. There's about 100 sq metres of wooden floor to use, simply wipe and job done!
But no... never... only carpet will do.

It’s a good time for the hounds to give us lots of love. Well, anytime is a good time for them actually. It’s not like they are normally at all conditional with their loving...
But I kind of get the feeling that my male dog is muttering you poor fucking bastard under his breath. Not really sure if it’s his impending cooped-upness that’s he’s thinking of, or the wisdom he undoubtedly has about how I’m gonna bang heads with my teenage sons. Anyway, glad to have them to keep me amused. Sorry dogs, but there’s no autumn rabbits or piglets for you this year...

I love the breed, my bitch is everything I could want in companion dog. Mum used to take her to retirement homes but had to stop as the patients were fighting over her. One old dear used to smuggle food in her pocket just to get Tilly’s attention.Quote:

Not sure if anyone remembers my story about the feral pup we rescued. Tried to rehome her many times. She’s been very hard work but it’s paid off. She loves the bush, can’t even pick up the safe keys without her smashing her way into the house with excitement. She came with us last weekend and got to see her first deer. She’s very proud of the skin hanging outside. Took this photo when she was popping balloons in the paddock on the weekend.

Great cross @wsm junkie, you’ll have high hopes for good reason. The heading / deer dog crosses I’ve worked with in recent times have been excellent. Gotta put the time in though!
Good on you Chelsea for sticking with her. Sometimes the dogs that cause us the most trouble, are the ones we bond with most strongly.

Pups are so cute, it's no wonder people try to breed small dogs so they stay that way forever :) Of course you can push it too far like the Chinese binding girls feet so they stay small and "pretty" :wtfsmilie:

@Flyblown yeh I have do have high hopes. I've only had him a week but I feel I've chosen the right pup. He's very relaxed and not hyper and picks things up pretty quick...although he seems to be a bit slow when it comes to the cats.....if he bothers them when they're eating = swipe with the paw....annoy them when they're asleep = swipe.....and if the cat is swishing its tail with its ears back cos its pissed off - doesnt mean it wants to play:ORLY:Quote:
