Happy days. Going so good now. Deer number 9, 17mnths old

No wonder he looks so pleased with himself :)
He looks to be one of those special dogs that don't come along too often.
I would say he has earned the back of the ute mate :D
Sako who has just turned 4 & now totally switched on to what is required for successfully tracking & locating a wide variety of game from Deer to Quail & all without a word having to be uttered . Today alone Sako & Muttley the GSP/Kelpie/Header X tracked & pointed 3 Deer & 2 Pigs working on hand signals only .
Here is Sako a few days ago switching from having tracked & pointed a Stag to scenting & pointing a nice Boar seconds later ;

Muttley; Papered, Horney, Fence Jumping, GSP Father /Papered & imported , Loose Morals Kelpie, Mother/Header X.
Just turned 14 months ,was only ever meant to be company for our now retired Lab & a general Farm dog to keep the missus company ,now shows more potential than any of the dozen Gun Dogs l have had over the years & all rounder from retrieving ducks to pointing/tracking Deer, pigs.goats etc & will work till drops if allowed ,my bet is will grow into the best Gun Dog l have ever owned .
Here we are trying to have a quiet cuppa & smoko at a favored spot, we leave gear at & Muttley is letting us know Deer scent is drifting up on the morning suns heated air from the valley below. We can tell what is scented as when a Pig is scented the hackles go up .

Glad to hear they are both going well :)
lol always better to be pleasantly surprised by a dogs' ability, than to get one for a specific purpose only to find out it's not keen on doing the thing you got it for :) Sounds like Muttley has the makings of a great muttley
Interesting about the Dogs hackles and pigs. Mine have the same reaction.
Mrs took this photo on weekend.

Bro is unimpressed… Yeah…. whatever…

All is forgotten and forgiven later… Nine years together, full of fun and hopefully more very dead possums.

First overnighter with Bea.
She went pretty good. She was tied to me for this one. But she knows what we are after now.
@Chur Bay Well done both of you, a trip to remember & the start of many great memories. Give the pup a well done pat from us
@rugerman ; Thanks mate ,pretty sure Muttley will become one of our best Gun Dogs yet ,for 14 months we are seeing some out standing work .
How long before your Pup turns up ,you must be counting the days ? .Good Luck with it
yeah mate getting pretty excited now :) either Friday night or Saturday morning for the new mini yapper. Been dogless for over a year and it sucks big time. The breeder named him Jack, and I've been raking my brains trying to think of another name but might just end up keeping it.
Well I got the little man Jack yesterday. Lets just say I didn't get much sleep but no doubt things will get better with time. He was 8 weeks old on Thursday. Swapping between chaos and sleeping ( Jack not me :) ).
Will try to get some better pics once I find my good memory card for my camera.

Cheers mate, yeah I had nearly forgot how a pup is like a highly mobile baby getting into everything it's possible to get into :)
He is a Vizlador. Apparently it's a thing :) Father was a black Lab and mother was a Vizla
interesting cross...hopefully the lab bit calms the visla bit and keeps it a bit warmer, hopefully the visla bit gives the lab bit a bit more speed and fizz.
Yeah he has a longer coat than a Vizla but has his mothers' ears :)
He's a bit of a gangly bugger at the moment where is legs outpace his brain :D
Found my camera memory card but not easy to get him to stay still for long if he's not sleeping :)

hard case, visla ears and lab face....
Looks good. Be a good mix I think. It will be interesting to see how he turns out. Are you going to use him as an indicator dog? Has he got hunting parents?
His father is a big black lab and mother is a Visla. Apparently the tan coloured pups were more popular for some reason.
Apparently there are some hunting lines somewhere there but he is primarily a pet for me. I may take him hunting at some stage if I don't think he will be a liability.
He's got character that dog. With the sense of smell that a cross like him will have, I doubt he'll be a liability. I've never owned a lab, but the Viszla I've recently acquired is ruled by his nose.
Well he's definitely got Visla ears :) and as for his nose he got a bee sting on it 2day so it might be supercharged now :) he didn't make a squeak but lucky I saw it happen. I don't know if he will be as keen on windfall peaches again.
I've never had a lab or visla before so it's all new territory for me.
With that parentage your going to have a fast hungry sex machine
What a cracker looking pup mate! Enjoy!
Like a kid watching cartoons, there's pups and pig hunting
