    Predicament

    Hi all

So here goes; the Mrs wants a rat(Jack Russell) and I want a deer indicating dog that also serves the role as a pet.

We live on a small section and are both young so what I'm asking is what falls into that category!?

the only thing we can both agree on is a beagle which would appear to fit the niche but what else should be considered?

Best beaters dog I have ever witnessed was a Jack Russell...

I would love to have a Jack Russell. I saw one in Upper Hutt years ago hanging off the nutsack of a rather distressed Rotweiller that seemed to be regretting being the aggressor.

It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

Beagles are awful , unless your using them as a hound.
Mind of their own , won't listen , wanderers,

My brother witnessed the same thing but with a large boar rather than a Rotty, and the boar was sitting down to stop it....Hint, when a dog is biting your nuts, sitting on its head and nose does not help the situation as the dog can no longer let go.......

Vizsla? Mine will hunt all day with me(I only use her on deer and pheasants) and then come home and be the perfect family pet. They do have endless energy but they are happy to do whatever you are doing and won't scavenge nor wander.

Many many years ago my wife used to look after a ladies breeding kennel. There were 20 Jack Russells and 10 Border terriers, Nice dogs but nasty little fuckers when provoked.

    Soooooo fecking true.
Lady friend has one - the dog likes to get RIGHT UP CLOSE and press itself through your skin.
Funny enough, she gets really jealous of her owner when I'm showing the owner attention/massage/cuddled up on couch.
