I'm 100% assuming here but I suspect this is another example of an owner not researching their breed before buying. I wish I had the room to take her.

Saw a 7 month old viz get picked up from the local pound earlier in the week by its owners.
By the time i had gone to look for a business card in my car she had gone, i was going to say give it 2-3months Max before its up for a new home. Judging by the talk between owner and the pound staff.

Nice dogs hopefully someone gets her. If it was the north island i know a guy always looking for potential detection dogs.

I sent them a msg not sure they will like my Ono though !, whats your thoughts on getting a dog at 9 months old ?
these things mite be more difficult to train than your average pig dog .iv never trained a deer dog that said 1 of my older pig dogs used to be ok on the deer a boxer x of all things he looked liked he,d been hit in the face by a spade, id keep him in & when he winded a deer would tuck his tail in droop ears slightly & have a guilty sheepish look on , after shooting a deer to keep things simple ..id give him a little growling , not sure he really believed it though when the boss is smiling , luckly I never had to try & get him to find a wounded one now that would be confusing

Nothing wrong with training a 9 month old. I think it has some benefits. Already toilet trained, The puppy energy will be leaving and it will be wanting to put in some serious work if its a good dog. As long as the puppy has good ground work it shouldn't matter. Good socialisation with people and dogs, not just playing with dogs and people but having manners and not rushing up to every dog to say hello etc.

There might be a few smaller things you will have to start from the start but if you can handle dogs no biggie.

Got a 6 year old dog as a first dog. Taught her to find my brass, take off shoes and socks and all sorts of cool stuff, bring the mail in. Just couldn't get her to stop chasing cats.
2nd dog was 9 months old and had spent 3 months in spca and foster.Got on well with most dogs and didn't try pull you over when walking past other dogs.
Had basically shat on concrete 1/2 her life. So toilet training her was hard as she missed the early learning stage. But the biggest thing I noticed was while walking on leash she would get caught on every post and pole possible. Older dog always walked your side of the post. Its the simple things haha.

We send ours all over the world....north to south is not an issue

hell, i got my mutt 18 months old from a guy who was going to shoot him as he wouldnt hunt pigs. he was starved and nervy but an awesome dog (brit bully x argentine dogo)
10 years old now, currently asleep on his mat with "his" kitten. the 2 are inseparable.

I know. But getting a new dog can be complicated when your wife is a vet. Or at least my wife is

I would take her, but I really can't afford a second dog.
And I'm not liking seeing the poor sod caged like that either.
Can see in the photos that she wants to be a good dog and please, but can just about guarantee she's not getting enough exercise.

no no no...keep telling myself no....got enough dogs now and landlord wont allow anymore...NO NO NO.

ill take her if some one else buys her for me. I need a good work/bush companion

No i have a Malinois though, also rehomed alot when people dont know how full on they can be as well. I know what Vizslas are like. What i was meaning is as they mature they can focus better and have less "puppy brain"
But there is a difference between puppy energy and Vizsla energy haha.

Also someone spoke to the owners and she needs surgery for umbilical hernia. Not a major but some extra costs that need to be considered.
