Any of you old pig hunters have a trick for stopping bleeding? Dog has a rip in his ear, not enough to go to vets but enough to be constantly leaking. Anyone got a good remedy to make it scab?

go to the vets, without the dog and ask for that powder pighunters use.......cant remember the name sorry
or swipe some baby powder from the babies room and use that.
Celox granules would be what I'd use. Surely there is a remedy, cornflower, baking soda, honey or something
I wrapped a handy towel around the tip of my vizsla ear when she cut it and duct taped it on. Took it off and replaced every day. Worked a treat

Vaseline works good too just pack the cut.
I floured him last night. I should have rolled him in egg first he looks like he's about to be deep fried. Either that or he's picked up a filthy coke habit
we have used the glue like resin from flax leaves before on horses leg... cant see why not dogs ear.
good for burns too......speaking of glue, super glue might work to close it, maybe the bugga is shaking his head and so it never clouts enough.
Yeah that's it, he keeps shaking his head and rubbing it I'm the grass. Went to grab some blood stop powder from vets but nobody's open
Super glue would be worth a go maybe just do 1 side
Cornstarch will sometimes help on minor stuff.
cobwebs as well they also contain a natural antibiotic as well iv been told
They say supple jack juice works to ..from the new shoots but never tried it
If using superglue it stings for a second so dog might snap. Small amount at a time till it comes together. good luck
Cut the bloody ear off Pointer. It can't bleed then. Mind you the dog's head will be a different story. Ever helpful I know.
Witch hazel, corn starch, cob webs, white vinegar, sugar
Or a big fat dollop if honey
I usually carry this spray on sticky plaster.
Works fine on hands etc when I cut them at work and don't want blood all over a clients house:O_O:
Don't see any reason that you can't use it on a dog. Comes in a small aerosol can weighs next to nothing so can be packed in your emergency supply's easily.
dogs ears bleed like a bastard, my dogs always used to bleed after hunting through blackberry and gorse, it never seemed to bother them at all, just looked pretty messy after a hunt, you can powder them to make it scab up, but they will always rip the scab off if hunting again.
Thanks everyone for the info!
Between the cobwebs, flax juice, flour and amputation I can no longer recognize my dog!
Is it a pointless now instead of a pointer :)
He's a disappointment now that he doesn't listen...
There's something a bit eerie about it
