Think before you snip your pup

    Hey guys,

thought I would share this info especially as a lot of vets, councils etc are pushing people to neuter their dogs asap due to the number of dogs that end up in shelters.

A large study was conducted on 2500 Vizsla's that showed neutering is bad for the dogs health in a lot of ways, this is also backed by smaller studies on golden retrievers and other breeds.
Also disproving common believe that neutering improves behavior / training - intact dogs had less behavioral issues, less fear and anxiety and were generally better to train.

Remember the number one reason that dogs end up abandoned or re-homed is behavioral problems - if neutering makes this more likely perhaps that isn't the answer to full shelters. There are now options to prevent litters without full removal of organs which may be worth exploring if you don't want to have an intact dog at home.
