Possibly not the most grandchild friendly dog.
I had one toddler at the time I had Roy, I’ve got a 3,5,and 7 yr old now and wouldn’t be concerned about owning another heeler as mine never nipped. That’s an owner issue.

Mine retrieved ducks and bailed pigs. The heeler, I had when I was doing rural work, tree felling and heavy machinery on farms/quarries, so he was with me all day every day, running free. So the exercise he got was going for a hunt, playing fetch for an hour, or just running round whilst I worked.

Over the years I’ve had 2 the both of them a few years apart all they wanted to do was nip and scrap the other dogs and try and nip a bailed pig. Got to the stage where my dogs wouldn’t go under a fence because e away to a cattle farmer. Never bit or growled people nut fuck they fight, not a desired trait on a pigdog.

My neighbour had one called Blue ( very original) and it was a bit of a yappy critter. Of course you can't tell a breed by 1 or 2 dogs but I had the feeling she was a bit of an Aussie grumpy tart ( the dog not the neighbour actually the best neighbour I've ever had. Used to text me to say she had hung dinner on the fence and I'd get home to a casserole or walnut loaf waiting on the front fence. Of course she had to move away. Shit what a rant )

Cesky Fousek New Zealand – A New Breed of Versatile Gun Dog On Our Shores

I think Jake is no longer in NZ. I talked to him years ago about getting one. Not for me as his line had no protection or guarding instincts. A dog to me must be able to do multiple roles and the GWP fits the bill, for me in my lines of work.

Jake is back in NZ and I understand the Cesky Fousek club also have recently imported a new male. No doubt the waiting list for a pup is quite long though.

    Pathway is almost clear.
Replacements are being semi openly discussed.
Established plants and bushes seem to be the stumbling block

She called the Wire pup the "Thousand Dollar Destroyer."
