This was cool. Last evening.
Spiker was slowly moving through fairly thick scrub. 275 yard shot across a gully right on dark. I heard the hit and it bolted and dissapeared.
Got over there in the dark and couldn't find the land marks I had in mind, but eventually thought I was in the right area 'cos the dog was showing a bit of interest in some ground scent. So I put Bella on a tracking line and asked her to find. She calmly led me around the scrub face for about 20 yards and then started tracking hard (wanting to pull me along). After about another 20 yards she found the heart shot deer. Mostly obscured. Not a long track, but I would have never found it by myself.
I was tickled pink.
