    Take a learner on. Every industry wants experience. But you can't get it if nobody it training.
    At least you end up with exactly what you want with no bad habits.

    We are taking on an apprentice this week and I'm surprised at the calibre of young people we have seen.

    You guys are lucky, the engineering company i used to work for, we had a few young guys through the doors over the years and only one of them was any good.

    60 replies to a Trademe advert. 9 of them could have started yesterday and I doubt we would have had any problems at all. Obviously an apprentice will be an easier position to fill than a tradesman but they don't just come out of the Weetbix box. We have to train them first and engineering as a whole (actually all trades) forgot to do that for probably for the last 10 years.
