Thread: Ashburton Shooting Clubs ?

Hey Forum,

Relocating from Hamilton to Ashburton next week.

Wanting to know what the 'local' clubs are and who to contact ?
Does the Ashburton Pistol Club still opperate ?
Whats the deal with the Ashburton Rifle Range ?
Who's the nearest Dearstalkers ? Do they have a Range ?

Welcome to Ashburton. Pistol club I understand still shoots out near the airport, rifle range down in industrial area shoot most weekends. Will pay to look up Facebook (sorry I don't use it) There is a deer stalkers but not sure if they have a range. There also is a small bore club on main road almost opposite Hunting and Fishing if this is your thing and they shoot a couple of nights throughout Winter.

This is great news! Pistol Club Websites & Facebook pages seem to have been inactive for a while, so was concerned they were gone.

@kiwi-adam there are two NZDA branches local to you, Rakaia & Ashburton. Probably the only place in the country that has two in the same town. They both use the Ashburton rifle range which is an NRA approved range run by the fullbore club. I don't know the full rundown on usage but either branch will have the info.
