    @kiwi-adam there are two NZDA branches local to you, Rakaia & Ashburton. Probably the only place in the country that has two in the same town. They both use the Ashburton rifle range which is an NRA approved range run by the fullbore club. I don't know the full rundown on usage but either branch will have the info.
