I recently had a crack at fixing up an old head for a friend, not sure where it got shot or who shot it. It's has a lot of points and palms across a small amount of spread.

The skull was quite fragile so i didn't boil it. A light water blast and several days in a warm dishwashing liquid bath, 12% peroxide pasted on the bone and a potassium permanganate dilution to stain the antlers. If i had more time i'd have liked to have spent more time yellowing the tips.

yes nice job well done I have done a number of these - a little piece of sand paper - very lightly sand tips - but that is a nice job and congrats to someone willing to take the time- and the way it was done yup that's the recipe - your method is exactly what I use -I have taken a green mouldy head from a mate and turned in into something he put on his wall - same method
