This unfortunate animal was found tied up in the supplejack and other crap up the head of a gully, while chasing pigs. The head was pulled out by a brave (and slightly reckless) young fella, it was a daft climb to get it. The vines on the antlers are exactly how it was found, and how the animal died...

Not a head, but a workmate years ago took pic of a stag he'd been chasing over a couple of trips, knew it was there but never really had a chance at it if you know what I mean.
He found it dead with a single loop of supplejack around a back leg. It had pulled the shit out of it and the ground was mashed up all around. if it had taken one step back it would've been sweet.
Big animal but the head didnt do it justice.
I seem to remember a photo in maybe a Philip Holden book from years ago of a goat with its horns caught in the fork of a tree and hanging. Not just off the ground either.
Sometimes animals have ofuck moments too.
    Seventenths and dannyb like this.

I came across a goat in the Whareorino tangled in some barbed wire. It must have been fenced in the early days as it was a good 45 minutes walk from carpark but only a few hundred metres from the bush edge. The goat obviously had some angora blood, and the barbed wire was tangled in the coat. It had been there a while but was still alive.

we shot a stag INSIDE a very very large deer paddock a few years back...we had spotted him in march but didnt catch up with him till may...he had a 12point head and had held nearly ALL the 500 or so hinds in the paddock...all the other stags were off on thier own (knife to a gun fight) he had wire wrapped up in his antlers and around his throat, when we shot him he was still holding the girls but was skinny as a rake, the wire had cut half way through one ear and had opened the skin around his throat...it wouldve been a matter of days before it cut something vital....talk about a high price to pay for love.
