    Storage of Mounted head

Hi Team. Hope everyone is doing good. Just a quick question. I have taken my trophy head off from the wall because of moving house. Not going to be on wall again for next 5 weeks. What’s the best I can do to store it properly without getting dust, insects on it? Looking forward for suggestions.

Mount it on the front of your car!
You won’t dodge the insects but you should pick up a few cyclists
It's all fun and games till Darthvader comes along

I'd find a large box to put it in, my lounge is quite a large box, you could put it in there. It might not come back though.

Apart from that I would have suggested to find a member who can display it inside an appropriate room for a bit.

    large wooden crate.
Or strap that bad boy in the kiddie seat and pop him in the car as co-driver.

If you can get it up to Auckland I can put it on a wall in a damp free room with no sunlight.
Will be safe as from decay etc.
And I will write up a receipt for you to hold. And Tag it with your details on.

Then Proceed to dream up some far out story involving a hand build jet boat, robotic dog and a 794m standing shot, uphill and through scrub.
    All in a days work.

Pm me if you want it looked after for a while.

if you cant crate it safely, see if anyone can store it for you, or if it needs to go in a moving truck wrap a couple of blankets around it then a couple of wraps of shrink wrap but not fully covering it so it can still breathe

Getting a company to move furniture? Then he can ride shotgun in the car... Assuming you won't be buying any new large items till you get to the new place

I would put it in a crate of some sort in a mates garage - a mate that doesnt have a dog and give it a spray with Black Flag so that carpet moths and mites dont take up residence

I would just cover it with decent cotton or linen bed sheet, maybe sow the edges so it’s like a big pouch. That will take care of the dust and allow it to breath, a sheet of plastic over the top but that sill lets air from the sides would be another layer of protection from the dust settling.

You can buy premixed Ripchord Plus from Mitre10, it would only need a light squirt every six months to stop any insect damage (treating the cover not directly onto the mount).

If you need to protect it from physical damage then a crate/spare room/hang it on a someone else’s wall.

    What a fantastic trophy

Ask the taxidermist if the antlers are easily removed, then store the mount in separate boxes to the antlers. Nice stag

Find a mates wall to put it on or ask one of the gun shops if they are happy to have it for a few weeks
